Here is the link to my Final Project Podcast called "Tolerance...a Life Skills Podcast."

There are eight photos that I edited in this podcast with Photoshop Elements 6.0. Here are the steps taken to edit each photo in the podcast. The opening title photo; 1) magnetic lasso tool with feathering of 25 pixels, 2) selected inverse and cut the background, 3) added text to the photo. The photo of Merna; 1) elliptical marquee tool with feathering of 30 pixels, 2) set the background color to red. The photo of the dictionary page; 1) old paper effect, 2) carving effect. The photo of the red and black days quotes; 1) elliptical marquee tool with feathering of 30 pixels on the photo with black days quote, 2) selected inverse and cut, 3) added the black and white gradient, 4) used red tint effect on gradient background, 5) elliptical marquee tool with feathering of 30 pixels on photo with the red days quote, 6) copied the selection and pasted it to the first photo, then resized and rearranged it, 7) rectangular marquee tool with feathering of 30 pixels on photo with My Colored Days title, 8) copied selection and pasted it to the first photo, then resized and rearranged it. The photo of the three Merna heads; 1) magnetic lasso tool with feathering of 25 pixels, 2) copied selection and pasted it to the photo with the three situations, three times, 3) resized and rearranged the three heads on the photo. The photo of the brown and purple days quotes; 1) rectangular marquee tool for photo with “low down” quote and “purple day” quote with feathering of 30 pixels, 2) copied the selections, then pasted each one onto the “brown” quote photo. 3) resized and rearranged the pasted selections. The photo with the orange and blue days quotes used the same steps as the previous photo, only the elliptical marquee tool was used instead of the rectangular one. The final photo of Merna is the same as the second photo in the podcast.

Final Movie Project - Ignoring Distractions

There are seven photos in this movie that I used Photoshop Elements 6.0 to edit. The opening title, "Ignoring Distractions" is the first photo that I edited. Here are the steps that I did to complete this photo; 1) glowing edges effect, 2) rectangular marquee tool with feathering of 20 pixels, 3) cropped, 4) straightening tool. The second photo I simply used the poster edges effect. The third photo I completed three steps to finish the picture; 1) magnetic lasso tool, 2) gradient tool for background, 3) smart blur effect for image. The forth photo I completed four steps to finish the picture; 1) solarized effect,2) sponge effect, 3) rectangular marquee tool with feathering of 75 pixels, 4) select inverse for Nebula pattern with paint bucket tool for the background. For the fifth photo in my movie I used the quadrant colors effect. In the sixth photo I used both the recessed frame effect and the old paper effect. Lastly, for the seventh and final photo in my movie I used the accented edges effect.

DragonflyTV Podcast by PBS Kids Go!

I subscribed to the DragonflyTV podcast through PBS Kids Go! I think it is a great tool to use in the classroom because it exposes kids to what other kids are learning on different topics. I like the videos and how they are professionally put together. I think PBS has great educational tools for teachers and this podcast is another excellent tool for the classroom. I can see my students really gravitating towards these podcast videos. They aren't too long and they aren't too short. Most of the podcasts are between 5 and 10 minutes in length. As a special education teacher, I am constantly looking for ways to build background knowledge of topics. This particular podcast would be a great way for me to expose my students to a wide variety of topics without having to specifically teach lessons on each one. This is a great podcast and I would recommend its use in any classroom.

TeacherTube Video Link About Cyberbullying...

http://www.teachertube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=05a09d33779a17adf170

I chose this video because right now bullying is a "buzz word" at my school and we are really doing everything possible to make our kids feel safe and secure. I think with all of the growing technology, cyberbullying is a big deal. There have been some students even in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade that have dealt with some form of cyberbullying. It's so easy to type something on a computer screen when you are all alone, but it doesn't mean the comments are going to hurt any less! This video does a great job of quickly illustrating that fact. It would be excellent to show as an intro into any lesson with students on bullying or cyberbullying.
